About Windrush Family Day
Join us for a spectacular celebration of the Windrush legacy as we commemorate 77 years since the arrival of the Empire Windrush at Tilbury Docks on 22nd June 1948. This historic moment marked the beginning of large-scale Caribbean migration to Britain and fundamentally shaped modern multicultural Britain.
Our Windrush Family Day is a vibrant celebration of Caribbean culture, heritage, and the incredible contributions that the Windrush generation and their descendants have made to British society. From the NHS to public transport, from arts and culture to sports and politics, the Windrush generation helped build the Britain we know today.
This free family-friendly event brings together people of all backgrounds to celebrate diversity, learn about Caribbean heritage, and enjoy a day filled with authentic food, live music, cultural performances, and activities for all ages.
